Where to Go

Our members use us for trips to many and varied places. Earlier this year, we went on a day trip to France and the driver filmed it…it looks like they had great fun! See for yourself at Wealden Wheels day trip to France on YouTube

For more ideas of local attractions have a look at www.kentattractions.co.uk or www.visitkent.co.uk. Here are just a few recent examples, most of which have group rates and cater for disabled visitors:

Castles, Houses & Gardens

  • Leeds Castle has many special events throughout the year, but is a wonderful destination at any time with its Castle and beautiful gardens and grounds.
  • Pashley Manor is famous for its tulip festival in May, but has beautiful gardens and grounds all year round as well as an excellent café/restaurant.
  • Hole Park (near Tenterden) has beautiful gardens and extensive grounds, and an excellent tea room.
  • Godinton House near Ashford is an ancient estate surrounded by magnificent parkland with a beautifully restored house and gardens.
  • Belmont, near Faversham, has beautiful gardens and grounds. Belmont House has one of the largest personal collections of clocks in the country and guided tours can be arranged for groups.
  • Sissinghurst gardens are always alive with a beautiful show of blooms, and you can get a delicious lunch or afternoon tea in their Granary restaurant.
  • Bybrook Barn, Tenterden Garden Centre, Dobbies Garden World or Notcutts (Maidstone) all offer lunch and snack facilities along with shopping.
  • Old Bladbean Stud Gardens - Open on selected NGS dates (see www.oldbladbeanstud.co.uk), and open for groups of 10 or more by arrangement - for bookings contact oldbladbeanstud@sky.com

Nearby Attractions

  • The Rare Breeds Centre in Woodchurch has lots of family fun and farm animals as well as an excellent café/restaurant, and is well used to coping with the needs of disabled visitors
  • The Kent & East Sussex Railway in Tenterden offers great value trips on heritage steam and diesel trains. Disabled passengers are well catered-for.
  • The Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is also a popular destination. We can arrange an ‘open jaw’ trip where we take you to Hythe and then collect you from Dungeness - where there is also a lighthouse and café!
  • The Battle of Britain Memorial, Capel-le-Ferne (near Folkestone), which can be combined with a visit to the Kent Battle of Britain Museum, in Hawkinge.
  • Take the Kingfisher Boat trip from Wateringbury and enjoy Kent’s countryside and wildlife from the water.

Eating & Drinking

  • Popular venues with our ‘seniors’ are The Pilot at Dungeness for Fish & Chips and Lathe Barn near Hythe for lunches and cream-teas.
  • We often transport groups who just want to travel to pubs or restaurants for social evenings without worries of drinking and driving.
  • We’re happy to suggest other suitable venues for food and drink.

Further Afield

  • We frequently take groups to London – perhaps for shopping, or to visit an exhibition or see a show.
  • Seaside trips are also popular – Margate/Broadstairs (perhaps including shopping at Westwood Cross), Hastings or Brighton (again good for shopping too)
  • Chessington World of Adventures, Thorpe Park, Legoland or Windsor Castle are also all within easy reach for a day trip.

Airports

  • We can also take groups or families to or from Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted and London City airports. Please call us to discuss requirements and costs.

There’s a trip out there for everyone, so why not give us a call to discuss your requirements.
